Novella has a subjective approach to her work. She encapsulates
the shyness and delicacy of her birds and allows them a timid
glimpse of the grown-up world, asking to be touched and admired.
Her inspiration is the environment and children's sensibility
to it and rotund bodies and large feet on spindly legs are an
endearing and poignant demonstration of this inspiration.
Redbridge Council required a lively, captivating outsize mobiles
to suspend in the Tudor barn near the children's play area at
Hainault Forest Country Park.
Novella's response to this commission is a delightful example
of colour and imagery a unique balance.
The result is nine large scale sculptures, which recreate a fairytale
landscape with a strong appeal to the child in us all.
