The Body of the
Anatomist, wood, photocopies, red varnish-paint In the basic arrangement,
six wooden boards are positioned on props and look like an unfolded
box. On one side, all boards show large black and white photocopies
taken from photographs, which are views from different positions
of a single, life-size, naked, male body. On the other side all
boards are painted in light red paint. An virtually unlimited number
of variations can be realized by taking single parts from the initial
position and placing them in the area of the installation. The intention
of the work is to question traditional ideas of a fixed art object
and an unequivocal representation of the human body (either in anatomy
or perspective).
